City of Broussard extending South Bernard Road

Mayor Ray Bourque and the Broussard City Council have approved $2.9 million for the second and final phase of the extension project. The 1-mile-long, four-lane road will have a grass median and be built in undeveloped parts of Broussard. Mayor Bourque said the new road will reduce congestion.

Drivers will be able to avoid the red light at South Morgan Avenue and Main Street. The city will install traffic lights along South Bernard at Main Street, Albertson Parkway, Heart D Farm Road, and Larriviere Road.

South Bernard phase one was completed in 2017 at a cost of $5.8 million.
