The City of Broussard continues to invest in the future through smart infrastructure planning and strong regional partnerships. At the latest council meeting, the Broussard City Council voted unanimously to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Youngsville to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of N. Larriviere Road and Young Street (LA Highway 92), replacing the current four way stop.
This highly traveled intersection serves as a major route for residents throughout the area and sees especially heavy traffic during morning and afternoon school hours as parents and students travel to and from Southside High School. With both Broussard and Youngsville continuing to experience rapid growth, improving traffic flow and roadway safety remains a top priority for both communities.
The upcoming roundabout project is designed to help ease congestion, improve traffic movement, and create a safer driving experience for motorists navigating one of the busiest corridors in the area. Roundabouts are often recognized for reducing delays, minimizing severe accidents, and improving long term traffic efficiency compared to traditional intersections.
This project also highlights the importance of cooperation between neighboring municipalities. As two of the fastest growing communities in Lafayette Parish, Broussard and Youngsville are working together to proactively address infrastructure needs that benefit residents throughout the entire region.
Regional partnerships like this are essential for supporting continued growth, enhancing connectivity, and maintaining the high quality of life that residents have come to expect in Broussard and surrounding communities.
The City of Broussard’s continued focus on strategic planning and infrastructure improvements reflects its commitment to preparing for future growth while improving daily life for residents, businesses, and commuters alike.
